4" Ficus Altissima, Varig

We have run out of stock for this item.

Ficus Altissima, or "Council Tree" is quite a character in the wilds of SE Asia it hails from. Starting life as an opportunistic epiphyte growing on another tree, it sends out vigorous roots that anchor it to the ground and can strangle its host most ungraciously for its hospitality and then grow up to 100'. Much more nicely behaved in our own little wilds, Altissima will keep to a way more modest 6' or 7' (and maybe a little more). The muscular, brown trunks support no-nonsense, oval, shiny and leathery leaves in a multitude of lemony-lime, citrusy-green shades, all patchy and random. The prominent veins are bright yellow. Plants with multiple trunks in the pot make  handsome specimen plants with tons of character.
