Schefflera Arboricola is a bushy plant from Taiwan and China where it lives as a freestanding tree, or, surprisingly, can be found clinging to the trunk or a larger tree living as an epiphyte. In the wild, or just planted outside in our temperate zone gardens, the plant can reach 25' but is tamer indoors getting more like 6'. Small branches and close set leaves make it easy to prune for shape. The leaves look like hands, with shiny oval leaves radiating in a circle from the stems. Classified as a flowering plant, the early fall blooms are rarely seen indoors. Gold Capella has a lovely creamy yellow variegation.
