4" Philodendron Cherry Red

$25.00

This pretty new Philodendron hybrid (people are creating such lovely new Phils) has a nice, bushy habit, around 3' X 3' or a little more, self heading and self assured. Wide, rounded, lance-shaped leaves arrive in shiny, cherry red plastic pointing up and announcing their arrival, such showoffs. All the leaves have a strong midrib, ghosts of the side veins, and sometimes will fold ever so slightly at the midrib when young. They do settle down with a bit of maturity and lower their brilliance to anything from a soft apricot/orange to a rich bronze, then the greens come in, the oldest leaves are lime to emerald to deep pine depending on where the plant is kept. Brighter light conditions will make the lighter tints of all the leaves, while lower light will make the whole plant darker, darker greens, reds and oranges alike. Leaves get larger with age too. What's fun about Cherry is the variable color display, ever changing and bright. She's so pretty!
