Philodendron
The name Philodendron means "tree love" in Greek. They are mostly native to the tropical jungles of central and south America where they demonstrate their love of trees by climbing and living on them; attaching themselves with aerial roots. They are flowering plants in the lily family, with lily-like blooms, although they are prized for their large, leathery leaves and bold growth. Smaller, vining types are often grown in hanging pots. Many Philodendrons have heart shaped leaves as seedlings that can grow to be more distinct, larger leaves when mature. Very easy to grow in high or low light, these easygoing plants are great for any space.
