Maranta

Marantas have been around a long time, having been first named in the 16th century for Bartolomeo Maranta. There are up to 50 species of "prayer plants" - so named for their habit of folding their leaves upwards at night, like praying hands. Beautifully patterned and brightly colored leaves are the hallmark of these plants. Lush, low spreading growth makes them a perfect tabletop or shelf choice.
