6" Aralia, Fabian Stump

$36.00
Fabian Aralia is a native of southwest Pacific Isles where the natives of Indonesia would use sturdy, cupped leaves as bowls, in cooking and as an antiseptic and deodorant (!) Our stump has old, thick, woodsy, tan colored trunks cut from mature plants and potted up to resprout brand new tops. Newest stems are slim, strong, purple and green, speckled things with matching petioles holding each leaf out horizontally. The leaves begin life tender, shiny, olive green and toughen up and darken to any other shade of green there is. Vigorous, tightly pulled veins of purple to green are responsible for the cupping and puckering.  Multiple trunks with multiple new stems make nice, full plants that reach up to 10' and more but stay about 2' wide as they grow. Slim, elegant, poised; they have it all together. Brightly lit places where you need a statement plant to gaze at, filtered water if you have it, and an occasional rinsing off to keep dust and spider mites at bay is all you need for success.
