The Birdsnest Ferns, in all their forms, are hardier than they look. Living in their jungle homes they perch on trees, palm trees, rocky cliffs, and even opportunistically stick on bromeliads that are holding their own perches and they can grow absolutely humongous! One explanation for the Birdsnest name is that leafy debris falls into their cupped crown and has the appearance of a nest with the little new fronds looking just like eggs before they unfurl. It also has brown hairs growing in the crown adding to the nesty look. The Birdsnest Nidus, (which means nest) has long, straplike, wavy fronds with nicely rounded ends reaching evenly upwards and can grow quite long on a tree or in the ground. Very old plants can randomly develop a fork or two on the fronds. Seen from above, this beautiful plant looks like it's growing in the sea with gently waving, rippling fronds moving in the watery flow. Perfect for a bathroom with its love of dampness and easy care.

- Water - Med/High (4): Prefers more water than most, but soil can dry out periodically. Use a spray bottle to mist and increase humidity levels without soaking the soil and roots.

- Difficulty - Low/Med (2): A little less finicky than most. Doesn't require much attention at all.
