Concrete leaf plant likes piles of rocks, where he was found in South Africa minding his own business. Calcarea means "limestone", the idea here is this plant is super concrete tough and hardy, and looks like it's a rock formation. Just a few inches high ( like, 4") and basically rosette shaped, the leaves are 1" tabs like little curved fingers with pebbly, hard bumps like warts on the tips. The tips are quite crowded together and have a vaguely triangular shape. The look is like rough concrete, of course. In lower ambient light, the coloring will stay a milky and glowing, translucent jade. Brighter light and some colder weather makes the grey shades with highlights of medium greens to olive with pinky lavender violet tips. Look real close and see a burgundy, mauve, rust blush beneath the bumps. Full blooms are sunny, bright yellow daisies with a pronounced, raised, cream-colored center. This plant seems pretty unassuming but there's really a lot going on here.
- Drought Tolerant
- Low Maintenance
Quick Care Guide:
- Water - Low (1): Needs very little water to survive. Wait until the plant is completely dry then fully soak. Drought tolerant by nature.
- Light - High (5): Plant needs a lot of light; direct is even better. These plants do best when placed on a window sill or next to a bright window. Avoid concentrated, hot light from window which may cause burning (magnifying glass effect).
- Difficulty - Low (1): These plants need barely any attention to thrive. Set it and forget it.
