6" Neoregelia Raphael

$42.00

In Brazil, the Raphaels live high up in the rainforest's dizzying heights clinging to tall trees with fibrous roots only meant for clinging. The water and food they require is collected in their center cups. Poison Dart frogs love these tiny lagoons to rear their tadpoles, which  hatch and move out of their watery abodes and climb higher to the safety of the tall trees. The froggy waste is used by the plants as fertilizer in a nice exchange of benefits. Raphael is a wide, somewhat flattened plant with stiff, horizontal, mossy green leaves with generous lime striping. A big scarlet star in the center circling the center floral cup is the star of the show. Purple little buds fill the cup at bloom time, at which time the pups begin to grow around the outer edge of the plant, to take over their parent's task of looking gorgeous and being simple to care for.
