We have had Calathea Ornata around for ages. It was discovered by a Dutch botanist in 1688 and named in 1780 by a British botanist and has adorned our homes ever since. It's not hard to see why this pretty plant is so adored. Growing up to a shapely 24" or so in its lifetime indoors, Ornata's ornate, glossy, pine green leaves are pinstriped in pairs of pale pink lines that change to white as the leaves age. Sharing the trait of folding its leaves up at night as it prays with all its Maranta relatives it displays the satiny purple underleaves. An epiphytic growth habit in the leafy shade of its natal rainforests and softy raining jungles makes it still love misting and filtered water to drink. Beautiful paired with bright green ferns and other pink hued plants.

Quick Care Guide:
- Water - Med/High (4): Prefers more water than most, but soil can dry out periodically. Use a spray bottle to mist and increase humidity levels without soaking the soil and roots.
- Light - Medium (3): Plant prefers natural, diffused light. Can be placed in a spacious living room. Indirect light preferred. No direct sunlight on leaves.
- Difficulty - Medium (3): Not too difficult to keep happy, but does require some attention.
