Light as a feather is our graceful, delicate Areca Palm. In her own native Madagascar and other tropical jungles Areca is an airy, flowery, fruity beauty up to 25' tall with bunches of smooth, pale green/grey trunks and fresh, spring green fronds with long fingers that flutter in the breeze. Known by Madagascar natives as "fiber tree" and "proud tree", her strong fibres were used for strong bowstrings and fishnets. Picture the tall, airy palms with their long, edible fruits; golden at first, changing to purple, with a crowd of exotic, chattering, tropical birds perched on top feasting on the fruits. Picture natives passing by in those jungles pulling down a fruit or two on their way by. In our own little jungles, we can expect maybe not flowers and fruit but pots full of thin, goldeny stems with brown freckles on them and myriad, arching, waving, spring green fronds. Now, the Areca will darken to a more houseplanty green like those other indoor palms when you feed her, but she will again settle on down to the glowing, goldy green she likes after awhile. More thirsty than you'd think, she does like moist soil but will want to dry out between waterings like most plants; that will just happen more often. With so many palms bunched together in the pot, it's so easy to sneak a few out to make a new Areca when repotting. She won't miss them.

Quick Care Guide:
- Water - Low/Med (2): Doesn't need as much water, but doesn't like to stay dry for too long. Plant will become droopy when really thirsty.
- Light - Med/High (4): Needs more light than most, but direct light not necessary. Can handle morning and afternoon sun directly on leaves.
- Difficulty - Low/Med (2): A little less finicky than most. Doesn't require much attention at all.
