4" Vriesea Vogue

$21.99

Vriesea Vogue is a beautiful, newish cultivar. Straplike, semi-gloss, grass green leaves flow out from the center of the plant in a graceful arc, each leaf ending in a slight curving dip and a small point. Our Vogue will be around 18" when full grown. The center cup we see in most Bromeliads in the wild (although this hybrid was never in the wild but he remembers) is to hold passing rain showers and dripping water from the jungle canopy to water the plant and refresh little frogs, insects and birds that stop by. From this center cup appears the flower, the main event of Bromeliads. A main green stem rises up bearing a rich burgundy-colored torch with some small side torches leaning out to the side a bit. Along the edges of the torches are bright yellow dashes, the whole flowers resembling bright tropical bird feathers. Some flowers can tend to more red than burgundy, still with the yellow on the tips. With a very long lasting flower, like most Bromeliads, this plant will look exactly the same for weeks and sometimes months, while making little pups around the base to grow up into new little Vogues.
