8" Echeveria Madiba

$34.01

Created by a plant breeder in Spain, Madiba was named to honor Nelson Mandela, referencing his Xhosa clan in Africa. This is a spectacular Echeveria, starting out pretty and unassuming and ending up a wild pot of ruffles and colors. A round rosette, very slow growing, finally reaches a diameter of 12" or so, with children at its feet. The leaves are identical, fat triangles of mint green towards the center, and deep rose hues at the ends and elongated rosy points. The leaf edges have a super ruffly border that gets rufflier as the plant matures until its just a pot of ruffles, fun to see. In sunnier places Madiba will orange up with a bronzy glaze and develop some fun, burgundy freckles. The flowers, like most Echeverias, are curved poles with coral pink bells that open up to red pink with yellow centers, very pretty and colorful. Madiba wants a nice bright, even morning and late afternoon sun spot near a window where he can chat with your other houseplants.

Quick Care Guide:

    • Water - Low (1):  Needs very little water to survive. Wait until the plant is completely dry then fully soak. Drought tolerant by nature.
    • High - (5):  Plant needs a lot of light; direct is even better. These plants do best when placed on a window sill or next to a bright window. Avoid concentrated, hot light from window which may cause burning (magnifying glass effect).
    • Difficulty - Low (1):  These plants need barely any attention to thrive. Set it and forget it.
