4" Fern, Falcata

$10.00
Pellaea Falcata has been a familiar sight creeping around the ground in Eucalyptus and rainforests of Australia and Tasmania; so hardy there and so hardy in a pot in your forest. Upright swords described as fishbone habit sport offset pairs of nice green, oblong pinnae (leaflets) described as sickle shaped. Falcata means curved sword. The pinnae do curve off to the side ever so slightly. If you look real close those leaflets sport a tiny, barely there toothy edge decoration. Under the leaves you will see even, dotted lines of rusty spore dots. You can expect about 40" in height in its lifetime. This is a very easy to grow, strong and forgiving fern, resistant to insects and deer. so you don't have to worry about your deer eating it.

Quick Care Guide:

  • Water - Med/High (4):  Prefers more water than most, but soil can dry out periodically. Use a spray bottle to mist and increase humidity levels without soaking the soil and roots.
  • Light - Med/High (4):  Needs more light than most, but direct light not necessary. Can handle morning and afternoon sun directly on leaves.
  • Difficulty - Low/Med (2):  A little less finicky than most. Doesn't require much attention at all.
