6" Hoya Burtoniae

$25.00

Burtoniae is not a commonly found Hoya. Now that you've found it, here's what it does. It grows pretty much like a Carnosa and other Hoyas that sit there looking like they are not doing anything, then out come several vines racing to grab whatever's there to grab. It's pretty fast growing. Those vines and the petioles are a mix of green and red, with the leaves a plump, almond shape with edges that can have a slight olive cast to them and curve and curl under just a bit. The leaves come in medium to darker greens with a faint tracery of pale veins on each leaf. Bright light brings out a reddish purplish coloring on the leaf borders, which is a nice addition to a somewhat simple plant. The curious flowers are a gang of little red balls, stamped with yellow stars, with a tiny red star on those, and that's all before the flower even opens! When they open, you get stubby, fuzzy red stars that smell like warm, sweet, honey caramel. Such a treat!

Quick Care Guide:

  • Water - Low/Med (2):  Doesn't need as much water, but doesn't like to stay dry for too long. Plant will become droopy when really thirsty.
  • Light - Med/High (4):  Needs more light than most, but direct light not necessary. Can handle morning and afternoon sun directly on leaves.
  • Difficulty - Low (1):  These plants need barely any attention to thrive. Set it and forget it.
