Hoya Fitchii, a wild and crazy jungle climber from monsoonal, subtropical forests of Mindinao in the Philipines was discovered by a photographer who gave it his name. A wax plant, the foliage is not so much waxy as smooth. Large, pointy ovals coming in pairs show off a bit more stem in between leaves than some Hoyas we know and love. Medium, grassy green leaves have a distinct, palest green midvein forking into a bold trident, with a network of smaller veins mapping out the rest of the leaf. Some morning or late in the day sunlight will bring out a gorgeous, burgundy red blush with those pale veins staying pale. Naturally, you also get flowers! Little bursts of fleshy double stars in either buttery yellow, an assortment of pinks and apricot, all are possible. Not sure what causes the colors to vary, but keeps it fun! This one's different from your other Hoyas, but you'll like Fitch.
