6" Philodendron Billietiae

$29.00

Recently discovered by Frieda Billiet in French Guiana and given her name, Philodendron Billietiae is a real character, looking like it's out of its mind; leaves, roots and stems all over the place. Even in a relatively small pot it starts showing its crazy. Real long leaves (up to 3' !) narrow (up to only 8" !) and shiny emerald green, have evenly ruffled edges and long pointed ends. A deep vee at the top of the leaves where the stem attaches makes them a big arrowhead shape. Wild, lighter green variegation maps the leaves randomly. A bold, pale midrib and a few absolutely horizontal side veins reaching to the edges and improbable bright orange petioles holding up those huge leaves complete the picture. Well, almost, tough aerial roots spring and sprout out even from the smallest of plants to hunt around for more soil, water, food, and support for climbing in your jungle. It really does long to climb, so maybe a moss pole is in its future, but you may also trim it to keep it lower if you'd like.
