6" Aechmea Primera Spineless

$39.00

Aechmea Fasciata Primera Spineless is a beautiful member of the bromeliad family with parents in the cool forests of Rio De Janeiro. Spineless was selected and bred for the spineless feature, which is a big deal. The ragged, sawtooth edge on the regular Fasciata is something you don't want to brush up against very often. Spineless has a random tooth here and there, but is much more kindly. Wide, stiff, strap leaves are medium green with dusty silver color patterns, arching gracefully out with pointed tips recurved down. The amazing, fat bloom spike is something else, barging up out of the center cup: a thick pink stalk covered with overlapping pink points. The points widen out at the top of the stalk to a large star shape with a pyramid-shaped top.  Seen from above, there's an unbelievable fractal beauty as ever smaller precise pink points disappear into a center vanishing point. Little purple and fuchsia flowers peek out around the top, as if any other color was needed. Hardy and cool weather tolerant, this plant is really easy for everyone to grow.
