Ecuadorean native Tillandsia Cyanea is so named for the lovely blue flowers it bears, but that's not all that's going on with this beauty. Starting with a spray of thin, long, fresh green leaves gracefully arcing out from the center of the plant, you will get spectacular blooms spring and fall which are the real attraction. A great big, vibrant pink, featherlike paddle will rise out of the center of the plant. From the points on the sides of the paddle will appear the deep bluish purple, paired flowers which will work their way all along the points in succession. You’ll love that the whole bloom lasts so long. Cyanea comes from steamy rainforests where it grew either attached to tree trunks or in the rich forest floor litter, either way grabbing the water and nutrients as they happened by. As a result, you can grow yours either way too. Either in a nice pot of soil like your other plants, or as an air plant. You can be creative about it, it looks lovely in a big glass fishbowl with a handful of moss and a rock or some shells, like a little terrarium.
