Calathea Warscewiczii was named after a Polish orchid collector in the 1800s. That name is a bit of a tongue twister that doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, but once you got it, you got it. It was discovered in the steamy jungles of Costa Rica and quickly became a popular houseplant. The leaves are large for a Calathea in a deep, rich green with a jagged stripe of paler green down the midrib. The undersides of the foliage are a flashy fuchsia hue. The leaves have a soft, quilted texture which paired with the extraordinary colors make the leaves resemble a big green parrot's feathers.

Quick Care Guide:

  • Water - Med/High (4):  Prefers more water than most, but soil can dry out periodically. Use a spray bottle to mist and increase humidity levels without soaking the soil and roots.
  • Light - Medium (3):  Plant prefers natural, diffused light. Can be placed in a spacious living room. Indirect light preferred. No direct sunlight on leaves.
  • Difficulty - Medium (3):  Not too difficult to keep happy, but does require some attention.
