3" Nepenthes Monkey Cup

$24.70

Monkey Cups is something of an acquired taste. Actually this is an ominous plant lurking in the corner luring bugs to a horrendous end. Nice and shiny green, the plant has lance-shaped leaves ending in long tails as the midribs sail off the ends of the leaves. Pendulous, bronzy red, leathery and veiny bottles hang from strong, thin stems (actually swollen midribs grown to form the flasks). The slick insides and unfriendly, downwards facing hairs point to insect doom in a limpid pool of the sweetest nectar. Bugs are unceremoniously drowned and digested. Monkeys sip the nectar and toast themselves on their good fortune at having found the bar open. In the home, Monkey Cups likes brightest light, humidity, and soil that never dries out to bone dry to make it feel at home in your jungle.

Quick Care Guide:

  • Water - Med/High (4):  Prefers more water than most, but soil can dry out periodically. Use a spray bottle to mist and increase humidity levels without soaking the soil and roots.
  • Light - Medium (3):  Plant prefers natural, diffused light. Can be placed in a spacious living room. Indirect light preferred. No direct sunlight on leaves.
  • Difficulty - Medium (3):  Not too difficult to keep happy, but does require some attention.
