Sanguinea can grow up to 5' in its Brazilian jungle but in captivity we can usually expect it to max out around 2' to 3'. It would be fun to try for that 5'; it must look just splendid in its natal jungle. Slim, trim leaves of a soft, velvety, deep green grow horizontally pointing outwards, highlighted with a pale green midrib, and pale, trailing side veins curving languidly to the edge of the leaf. These are "prayer" plants, gently closing their leaves upwards like praying hands, thereby showing off their pretty red undersides. Its name, Sanguinea, meaning "red colored" refers to the added surprise of fabulous sprays of brightest, brilliant red flowers in the spring. Those are really worth waiting for.

Quick Care Guide:
- Water - Med/High (4): Prefers more water than most, but soil can dry out periodically. Use a spray bottle to mist and increase humidity levels without soaking the soil and roots.
- Light - Medium (3): Plant prefers natural, diffused light. Can be placed in a spacious living room. Indirect light preferred. No direct sunlight on leaves.
- Difficulty - Medium (3): Not too difficult to keep happy, but does require some attention.
