2" Pleisopsis Nelii

Nelii is named for intrepid botanist Gert Cornelius Nel. Also called split rock or living granite for its prehistoric, cracked, rocky look, maybe developed to fake out plant eating marauding predators. They must taste good. Colored in a soft, medium sage green, some have also a transparent lavender wash over the greens. Teeny, dark green specks are sprinkled overall maybe to attract more sunlight to the plants. Leaves emerge paired and split, then a baby pair of new leaves comes up in between the parent leaves and on and on. Flowers are surprising bright orange or yellow daisies like a frilly hat right on top of the rocks and have a surprising, enchanting coconut scent. The coconut hats open in the morning and close at sunset. These guys love to be bone dry most of the time, perfect near sunny windows, left alone.

    Quick Care Guide:

      • Water - Low (1):  Needs very little water to survive. Wait until the plant is completely dry then fully soak. Drought tolerant by nature.
      • High - (5):  Plant needs a lot of light; direct is even better. These plants do best when placed on a window sill or next to a bright window. Avoid concentrated, hot light from window which may cause burning (magnifying glass effect).
      • Difficulty - Low (1):  These plants need barely any attention to thrive. Set it and forget it.
