Good old Watermelon Pellionia is not a watermelon, it's an uncommon plant that was popular years ago and is finding its way into our homes again. With coolheaded poise, it hoists its firm, pallid red colored stems up and out displaying its handsome, oval foliage of silvery green with wide forest green veining. The undersides of those leaves are traced with pinky-red veins and are somewhat translucent. In its native tropical forests Pellionia wanders along the leaf-littered floor, enjoying the dappled shade, and rooting where it will. In a pot it will eventually trail nicely for you and get quite large . Nice to see it again!
