4" Albuca augrabies Hills SQ

$12.00

Augrabies, a Namibian name for "place of big noises" or "sound of a waterfall" for a plant collected in wild, rocky places in Namibia, possibly near a waterfall or a noisy city. This wild guy is so easy to grow everyone can have one. A succulent-like shiny, fleshy, bright green bulb is covered all over with beigy, peely paper like an onion. From each bulb busts out a spray of rich, emerald green leaves poking out like a green ponytail. In fact, it does resemble our Beaucarnea, the "Ponytail Palm". Real prolific, bulbs sprout friends on the side galore, quickly filling the pot with crazy. Of course there are flowers, on a very tall green stem arrive blooms looking like green and white snowdrops. A couple of simple petals either stick straight up or fall away to the side (we've seen either one) cupping a center of three tightly closed stripy petals touching at the top splashed with a brilliant yellow center. With each of the myriad bulbs blooming together, it's a lovely sight. Add to that a very sweet fragrance. Deep cold and high heat are totally ok with Augabies, and trust us, this is one of the easiest and most carefree plants you will ever own! SQ means this guy comes in a square pot.
