4" Begonia, Catherine Too

$21.99

Catherine Too's a pretty cane style Begonia (growing on strong, upright stems in stead of little bushes) developed in California by plantman Paul Tsamtis, the hybrid child of Begonia parents 'Silvermist' and 'Lenore Olivier'. There are taller cane type Begonias, but Catherine gets only about 12" to 18", making up for her shorter stature with wildly decorated leaves. Longish swords, wider at the top and coming to a fierce point have raggedy edges with a bit of ruffle to them Too. One side of each leaf (usually the left side) is longer than the other side, making the leaf tip sway slightly to the side. On a luminous, silvery, satiny leaf surface wide and forking, mostly olivey-pine green veins all seem to emanate from the small, lime green dot at the top of each leaf where the stem attaches underneath, and flow to the leaf edges. Undersides of the leaves are a rich wine color, with bright, light green stems. Loved for her lovely leaf colors, she of course, being a Begonia, has flowers. Look for bunches of lipstick pinky-red buttons whenever she feels like it. Cane Begonias are some of the easiest ones to care for so go ahead and give her a try.
