4" Calathea Musaica

$19.50

Network Calathea's a patented cultivar with a real catchy networklike design decorating the foliage. Generous, heart-shaped leaves that are large for the Calathea world make their debut in a tidy roll then turn wisely to face outwards, maybe to garner the most light possible amongst its neighbors, maybe a habit hung over from ancestors living on shady forest floors and on trees and competing for filtered sunlight. From afar you see mottled, mixed lime and emerald green static but up close we see why someone named it Network. We see a network of thin, emerald lines radiating somewhat evenly scribed from the strong, lime midrib to the leaf edge. In between those lines we see  yellowy boxes of different sizes marching out to the leaf edges like teensy windows seen afar off like windows with the lights left on. Each leaf doesn't just lay down flat and behave, but has regular buckles like ripples in a pool. It sounds a bit untidy but is an unusual and pretty plant not much like other Calatheas and pretty rare too. You'll like it. Remember, no propagating or sharing of this patented cultivar, just enjoy it for yourself.

Quick Care Guide:

  • Water - Med/High (4):  Prefers more water than most, but soil can dry out periodically. Use a spray bottle to mist and increase humidity levels without soaking the soil and roots.
  • Light - Medium (3):  Plant prefers natural, diffused light. Can be placed in a spacious living room. Indirect light preferred. No direct sunlight on leaves.
  • Difficulty - Low/Med (2):  A little less finicky than most. Doesn't require much attention at all.
