This Princess is so tough she has a nickname of "Autograph Plant" because it's rumored you can carve your name in her sturdy leaves. Write your name or hers on a bottom leaf to test it out! With a full and bushy, treelike growth habit Clusia Princess has the perfectly planty shape. Lime green, paired new leaves emerge pointing straight up. As they mature they settle down to rich, grass green, oval foliage with a pointed tip. The leaf shows a midrib in a lighter green and soft veining gently quilts the leaves. Side sprouts quickly fill the plant out. Princess is happy anywhere in the house where there is bright light and especially loves the humidity of a steamy bathroom or the kitchen. Getting quite large outside in South America she begins her life rather rudely as an epiphyte hanging out, all innocent, on a host tree then strangles the poor tree with her twining roots. Much nicer in your home, she makes a nice, full bushy friend. In nice warm places an occasional white, five petaled, pinwheel of a flower with five rosy pink spots circling the center and a tiny, waxy yellow star. With it a lovely fragrance will appear.
