Allegre means jaunty and joyful in Latin, a name given her jaunty succulent by plant breeder Renee O'Connell. Like most Echeverias, Allegra's a symmetrical rosette of dusty, soft, sky blue paddles each coming to a nice, defined, soft point. A transparent lavender washes over the tops of the leaves, more in bright light. Dusty farina, the soft, powdery finish on many succulents, coats the plant; it's disturbed if you touch it but not harmful to the plant. It won't replace itself if it's rubbed off, though. The plants wear it to possibly repel standing water on the leaves, excess sunlight, and keep insects and disease causing germs away. The nice flowers that appear are shaggy stems like shepherd's hooks with gracefully descending perfect, little, pointy coral blooms with tiny orange stars at their tips. Expect a mature size of around 12" X 12". Like most Echeverias, Allegra's completely safe with doggies and kitties.
- Drought Tolerant
- Pet Friendly
- Low Maintenance
Quick Care Guide:
- Water - Low (1): Needs very little water to survive. Wait until the plant is completely dry then fully soak. Drought tolerant by nature.
- High - (5): Plant needs a lot of light; direct is even better. These plants do best when placed on a window sill or next to a bright window. Avoid concentrated, hot light from window which may cause burning (magnifying glass effect).
- Difficulty - Low (1): These plants need barely any attention to thrive. Set it and forget it.
