Frank Reinelt is the developer of this lovely Echeveria and so many others, creating hybrids in California from the 1920s for around 50 years. Blue Bird is a heavenly, sky blue rosette like a dreamy, blue lotus flower, perfect evenness and symmetry. Fat, nicely pointed, spade-shaped leaves space themselves each with a view of the sky, perhaps to get as much sun as possible. The luminous, deep baby blue leaves have their points dipped in a delicate lavender pink. Blue Bird has a coating of the white powder, called farina, that many succulents produce. If you disturb the powder, it won't hurt the plant or replace itself and just makes the plant look a different, that's all. This hen has lots of chicks appear underneath you can leave in for fullness or separate and have more bluebirds. The flowers are slim poles rising from between the leaves near the centers of the plants which are decorated with pretty pink/orange flowers.
- Drought Tolerant
- Pet Friendly
- Low Maintenance
Quick Care Guide:
- Water - Low (1): Needs very little water to survive. Wait until the plant is completely dry then fully soak. Drought tolerant by nature.
- High - (5): Plant needs a lot of light; direct is even better. These plants do best when placed on a window sill or next to a bright window. Avoid concentrated, hot light from window which may cause burning (magnifying glass effect).
- Difficulty - Low (1): These plants need barely any attention to thrive. Set it and forget it.
