4" Echeveria Super Red

$8.00

Echeverias are found just everywhere in hilly and mountainous, dry and desolate stretches of Mexico, Central, and South America, thriving on rocky, poor soil that holds little water. Echeveria Super Red is one of many hybrid descendants of those  brave souls. In the traditional rosette shape, olive to avocado to sea green leaves shaped, well, leaf shaped, slightly cupped and concave rise up ending in definite sharp points (that don't hurt you). Those points are bright red but when cold weather in fall and winter appears the whole plant can blush to a brilliant almost fluorescent carmine/scarlet red as the chlorophyll level drops and the other pigments present in the plants show off. The plant will keep its reds and new growth in the warmer times will come out in the greens again. The rosette itself can get up to around 12" in diameter, by then the pups will surely have appeared, popping out sideways from the stem near the bottom, in between the leaves. A velvety dusting of the farina powdercoat dusts the plant, as with many succulents. In your sunny window this guy will think he's back in sunny Mexico.

Quick Care Guide:

    • Water - Low (1):  Needs very little water to survive. Wait until the plant is completely dry then fully soak. Drought tolerant by nature.
    • High - (5):  Plant needs a lot of light; direct is even better. These plants do best when placed on a window sill or next to a bright window. Avoid concentrated, hot light from window which may cause burning (magnifying glass effect).
    • Difficulty - Low (1):  These plants need barely any attention to thrive. Set it and forget it.
