Sedums are also called "Stonecrops" for their propensity for glomming onto rocky ridges and rock walls, but the fun nickname of this one is "jelly beans plant" or even better "pork and beans" for the colorful, jolly round clumps of leaves. Little, chubby, succulent fingers are stuck on stems all evenly spaced like tiny branches on a tree, colored in a muted, pretty mix of soft blue greens and aquas, or bright lime green too, lightest at the tips and highlighted with a bright magenta/rose pink at the tips. Overall is a hint of the powdery finish many succulents produce to conserve water and protect from too bright light, etc. Jelly Beans starts out a bundle of fingers all reaching out, to each clump growing up to make that baby, chubby tree, a few to a pot. They like to make large family groups in their native wild hills of Mexico, able to reach around 1' overall. The flowers are in short batches of 5 point fancy, bright yellow stars, each petal with a faint lime stripe down it, on short stems. Absolutely any piece laid on soil will sprout like crazy, making this one of the easiest plants to propagate ever. No excuses for not having a million plants in no time.
- Drought Tolerant
- Low Maintenance
Quick Care Guide:
- Water - Low (1): Needs very little water to survive. Wait until the plant is completely dry then fully soak. Drought tolerant by nature.
- High - (5): Plant needs a lot of light; direct is even better. These plants do best when placed on a window sill or next to a bright window. Avoid concentrated, hot light from window which may cause burning (magnifying glass effect).
- Difficulty - Low (1): These plants need barely any attention to thrive. Set it and forget it.
