The Latin name Sempervivum means "always alive" and it will seem like it to you when you get one. Like a water lily, this circle of soft, darkish green, pointed leaves emerge from the deep magenta shaded center to reach toward the outer circle making way for the neverending new leaves. Over the plant is the often seen powdery white dusting which disappears when touched. New, sprouty babies come out from under the mother plant and quickly grow into teenagers as they hang precariously over the edge of the pot, wanting their independance when there's just not room at home for them. In a larger pot they will just settle down and root next to mother and behave themselves.
- Drought Tolerant
- Low Maintenance
Quick Care Guide:
- Water - Low (1): Needs very little water to survive. Wait until the plant is completely dry then fully soak. Drought tolerant by nature.
- High - (5): Plant needs a lot of light; direct is even better. These plants do best when placed on a window sill or next to a bright window. Avoid concentrated, hot light from window which may cause burning (magnifying glass effect).
- Difficulty - Low (1): These plants need barely any attention to thrive. Set it and forget it.
