6" Fern, Bronze Venus

Lovely Bronze Venus, named for the loveliest of Roman goddesses, comes to us from a fern grower in Holland, who noticed something unusual in a greenhouse of Maidenhair ferns. Ethereal and delicate, soft and full, she has everything those other Maidenhairs have. Venus is a cloud of fresh spring/lime greens, the new growth announcing itself in pinky bronzes giving her her name. Fronds rise up on stems like thin black wires; each many fingered frond pointing its tip outward from the center. Those fronds look like the footprint of a big prehistoric bird, long fingers growing out from the stem, petioles of black wire with lines of soft green offset pinnae with serrated edges, sometimes decorated with even dots of spores underneath. A lover of humidity, she would love a bright bathroom or place with bright light with you bestowing soft showers of mist on her. You should bring a Venus home to adore and love. And mist.

Quick Care Guide:

  • Water - High (5):  Plants in this category prefer moist soil. Do not let the plant dry out in between waterings. Water when the soil is still lightly damp. Use a spray bottle to mist regularly to keep humidity levels optimal.
  • Light - Med/High (4):  Needs more light than most, but direct light not necessary. Can handle morning and afternoon sun directly on leaves.
  • Difficulty - High (5):  These plants require the most attention and are not the easiest to maintain. Not the best option for beginner plant-parents.
