The name Benjamina comes from the Indian name Benyan, or Banyan. Ficus Benjamina Spearmint is originally found in India and Australia, where it grows in the semi tropics. It does appreciate some humidity which it enjoys in its native home. Soft, sage green and cream leaves grow in the familiar weeping fig form, although this tree is smaller in scale than its green cousin. It will quickly fill any container with strong roots, but seems to be happy that way and last a long time before needing to be repotted. This beautifully colored plant is attractive in a group of plants in reds, purples, and darker greens.
