Well, who knew?? Our beloved Lucky Bamboo is a Dracaena! Dracaena Sanderiana has been around in houseplant circles forever, mostly in the variegated, stripey version. It was one of the few houseplants actually to thrive underwater in aquariums, so it's not surprising to see Lucky offered for sale in pots of water only, and seemingly thriving too. Our Lucky is in soil, equally fine with this easygoing fella. Rolled, rotated and revolved during the growth of the stems make the twisty, turny fun. A lot of work for sure goes into each Lucky. Treat it like any Dracaena, medium to bright light and water when dry, fertilize occasionally. Great gift for anyone, (you need one too), and... wait for the luck to come around.
Quick Care Guide:
- Water - Medium (3): Water plant when dry. Plant does not like soil to always be moist, but doesn't like to stay dry once becomes dry. Water as soon as soil is dry.
- Light - Med/High (4): Needs more light than most, but direct light not necessary. Can handle morning and afternoon sun directly on leaves.
- Difficulty - Med/High (4): A little more finicky than most. Requires some extra care.
