This simply glorious Philodendron looks like it's akin to a Caladium, which is actually a relative. Huge, heart-shaped leaves (up to 18"!) in its native, steamy rainforest home will be smaller at first supported on slim pale green stems, then as it grows in your jungle, look for bigger leaves. Green and velvety with striking, glowing, white midrib and side veins to the edges; these leaves are just spectacular. Creepy, rather than bunching, Gloriosum happily creeps over the rainforest floor, in 4-wheel drive, crawling right over tree roots, fallen logs and even rocks, happily eating the rich, abundant leaf litter and debris it encounters along the way. In a pot, it will, of course, creep but stay in the confines of the pot until it outgrows it. The overall size is a couple of feet this way and that, varying on where you have it. The flower, usual in the jungle, is super rare in captivity. You are super lucky to see it!
Quick Care Guide:
-
Water - Med/High (4): Prefers more water than most, but soil can dry out periodically. Use a spray bottle to mist and increase humidity levels without soaking the soil and roots.
-
Light - Medium (3): Plant prefers natural, diffused light. Can be placed in a spacious living room. Indirect light preferred. No direct sunlight on leaves.
-
Difficulty - Medium (3): Not too difficult to keep happy, but does require some attention.
