6" Selenicereus Wercklei

$29.00

Ok, this cactus is called Werckle's Moon Cactus. Selene meaning moon and Werckle being the intrepid Costa Rican plant scholar at the beginning of the 20th century, who the plant is named after, honoring him. Moon because this strange plant blooms at night to lure the big moths and mysterious bats that fly by night. Great big, pure white, water lily blossoms scented a sweet and alluring vanilla, with deep rose blushing deep in the bloom have a glowing yellow deep in the center, like a nightlight to show the way. The plant itself is a wild, unruly pot of green sticks. Jointed, shiny, apple green, finger-width sticks have random sprouts of vibrous air roots that pop out of the sticks wherever. These crazy sticks can reach 10'! So put it in a high hanging pot and let it waterfall down. In the Costa Rican rainforest, this succulent/cactus is actually tropical, loving humidity as it clings to tall trees climbing and trailing. It just wants to go! Very unique, you should have one in your rainforest.
