String of Dolphins is aptly named for its pods of happy dolphins leaping over the edge of the pot and cascading down the tough, rubbery stems. Leaves of little curved tubes with frisky little "fins" sticking out from the sides make perfect little Dolphins. Sporting the translucent window on the leaves characteristic of the trailing Senecios, you can hold it up to the light and see through the leaf as it collects more interior light; a trait developed in the harsh, hot and rocky places it comes from where it hides in the shade of rocks when possible. String of Dolphins is a created hybrid that never saw those places, but it remembers just the same. Happy in a sunny window with plenty of light, just not too close to burn the leaves, Dolphins will grow quite full and lush and long, and will appreciate an occasional haircut. Spicy scented little flowers in yellow and white will reward you when Dolphins is all happy.
